Multilingual glossary

The IAU Office of Astronomy for Education (OAE) multilingual glossary contains definitions of astronomical terms which often appear in educational contexts. Definitions are written by astronomers and reviewed by astronomers and teachers to ensure they are correct and easily understandable. It includes hundreds of definitions, grouped by target audience (primary and secondary schools), along with images, maps and diagrams supporting the text, which are shared on the OAE platform as educational resources, published under a Creative Commons attribution licence (CC-BY-4.0).

The IAU Office of Astronomy for Education Center Italy supported the translation, revision and localisation of the Italian version of the glossary. Most terms have been commented upon by both researchers and teachers on a voluntary basis. A working group of I-OAE focusing on educational activities inspired by the glossary has been compiling resources for teachers that will be shared on astroEDU.
