astroEDU is the International Astronomical Union (IAU) platform for peer-reviewed astronomy education activities, designed to support teachers in bringing astronomy into the classroom and using astronomy as a tool to effectively teach STEAM subjects. The platform provides free, high-quality teaching resources reviewed by both astronomers and educators, ensuring scientific accuracy and pedagogical effectiveness through a structured peer-review process.
New activities are published monthly, covering a wide range of topics that extend beyond astronomy and astrophysics to include broader STEAM areas. They are designed for different school levels and include clear learning goals, classroom instructions, and background scientific explanations, allowing teachers to easily integrate them into science curricula. To support global dissemination, recent efforts have focused on sustainable multilingual solutions, including new technologies, while maintaining the platform’s peer-review standards.

astroEDU is managed by an International Editorial Board responsible for the peer-review process, the publication of new activities, and the overall development of the platform. The educational activities published are often developed in collaboration with international partners and educational initiatives within the OAE network. astroEDU also hosts thematic collections of activities produced within educational projects, including resources developed through I-OAE initiatives such as the STEAM-MED and Sabir projects.
In addition to coordinating the astroEDU Editorial Board, the IAU Office of Astronomy for Education Center Italy plays an active role through editorial contributions and collaborations with international partners, as well as by using and promoting astroEDU activities in teacher training programmes and international workshops on astronomy education.
