Equal Day at Scoil Fhursa Boys National School in Dublin
More than 150 events around the world celebrated Equal Day 2026, bringing together schools, students, teachers, researchers, and astronomy enthusiasts under the same sky.
From Zagreb to Dublin, from Ravenna to Rio de Janeiro, thousands of participants took part in hands-on activities, online exchanges, and collaborative experiments inspired by astronomy and the values of equality, dialogue, and peace.
One of the most widely shared activities was the Eratosthenes experiment, in which students from different countries measured the Sun’s shadow at the same time and combined their observations to better understand our planet. The initiative demonstrated how science can become a common language, connecting people across cultures, languages, and borders.
Equal Day is more than a celebration of the equinox. It is a global invitation to build connections, promote mutual understanding, and remind us that equality and peace are values to be practiced every day.
